Wildly Popular Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Franchise is now on Flipboard

Sports Illustrated is proud to announce that we are working with Flipboard, the recently named “ iPad App of the Year” by Apple, to provide our fans with a  dynamic display of social updates within a platform that is vivid and easy to navigate. Sports Illustrated plans to utilize Flipboard’s technology to deliver the best of the franchise’s multimedia content directly to the user. The first initiative will revolve around our premier franchise: Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. Senior associate editor MJ Day explains the details below:

Greetings from the Swimsuit family,

In social media, our job as editors is to provide you with an all-access pass to the shoots, models and surroundings that comprise each Swimsuit issue. We love to bring you the very best of Swimsuit across Twitter on a 24/7 basis but understand that our messages can get lost in the fray of your personal feeds. Flipboard creates a scrapbook that captures the essence of each photo we take, placing them in a beautiful environment that is larger and clearer than ever before. Our Flipboard channel will show you more than just the girl; you can zoom in and see other features like the editor applying make-up in the corner : ) or even take a sneak peak at the shoot’s location. It exists as a photo documentary of loveliness that chronicles all the efforts of what you will see come February.

Flipboard will repurpose our photos and videos on a gorgeous, digital template from a custom Twitter list, which aggregates staff and select model accounts. Beginning today, you can view behind-the-scenes pictures from our 2011 Bodypainting Shoot along with our central Swimsuit Twitter updates.

Access the Swimsuit Flipboard channel by:

1. Download Flipboard in your iPad
2. Open your Flipboard and tap “Add a section”
3. Select “Swimsuit Edition” from Flipboard pages
