Gareth Thomas: SI’s Guest at the National Magazine Awards

Sports Illustrated Group Editor Terry McDonell was given the opportunity to present two awards at the event and was asked to invite an athlete to join him. McDonell invited Welsh Rugby Player Gareth Thomas. Gareth was profiled in SI last year by Gary Smith as the bravest athlete he had ever met. Smith, a record ten time nominee also presented an award at the event.
