Sports Illustrated Creative Director Chris Hercik Given Expanded Portfolio of Responsibilities

Sports Illustrated Creative Director Christopher Hercik will take on creative oversight for all Sports Illustrated web and digital products, it was announced by Time Inc. Sports Group Editorial Director Paul Fichtenbaum.  Hercik, who had overseen the creative direction for all SI print and tablet products will expand his portfolio to include all consumer products and brand platforms. This appointment continues a stellar year for Hercik who, in June, received Time Inc.’s Most Valuable Performer, given to the single individual who has made significant contribution to the company over the course of a year.

“Chris is the ideal modern-day Creative Director—he’s comfortable and intuitive working across all platforms, who brings a gifted and innovative approach to design,” said Fichtenbaum

Hercik has been with Sports Illustrated for more than a decade, initially focusing on the print products. In recent years, he has become critical in SI’s ability to publish weekly digital editions across seven platforms (iPad, iPhone, Kind Fire, Android Tablets, Android Smartphones, Web).  His team annually designs more than 30,000 pages. Hercik also oversees the creative direction for the Swimsuit franchise and all of its extensions in mobile, digital, TV and consumer products.
